Changing Education for Musical Theatre Performers and Educators
Whether an artist is performing on Broadway, their middle school stage, or at Madison Square Garden, they found that creating art in community is a joyful, affirming experience. BroadwayVox was founded by renowned pedagogues Dr. Joey Harrell and Jared Trudeau to create a space where compassionate, progressive, elite training in voice, acting, and dance helps foster courageous, compelling artistry for everyone from seasoned professionals to young people just discovering their love of music, theatre, and dance.
We believe in empowering educators with an effective framework that encourages skill development, self-confidence, and a sense of belonging. We believe that we are all lifted by community success and that assisting each individual artist to fully realize their creative potential improves the lives of everyone around them. We also believe that training and education should be fun.
BroadwayVox is here to change education in Musical Theatre by being a creative home for compassionate, courageous artists and educators.
the
founders

BroadwayVox was founded in 2023 by Jared Trudeau and Dr. Joey Harrell–two sought-after, highly respected voice educators whose paths converged through a shared passion for Musical Theatre voice pedagogy, innovative education, and artist empowerment.
Jared graduated summa cum laude with degrees in Music and Psychology from Tufts University and an M.F.A. in Voice Pedagogy for Musical Theatre from Penn State University. With over two decades of teaching experience, he brings a deeply integrative approach to training, blending voice science with somatic, spoken voice, and acting methodologies to help singers build flexible, emotionally connected vocalism across styles.
Joey earned his Ph.D. in Music Education with a focus on Musical Theatre Voice Pedagogy at Penn State after completing an M.M. in Voice Pedagogy at The Boston Conservatory and a B.M. in Vocal Performance at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. His teaching is shaped by both academic rigor and personal experience– having overcome his own vocal challenges, he developed a keen understanding of vocal biomechanics, acoustics, habilitation, and the individualized nature of singer development.
Together, Jared and Joey created BroadwayVox as a home for world-class training in voice, acting, dance, and teaching. Rooted in evidence-based pedagogy, cross-training, and a deep respect for each artist’s unique journey, they lead a growing community of performers and educators committed to excellence, curiosity, and lifelong learning.
