This course is designed for dancers who are looking to grow their ability and confidence with singing! This is a 5-week course with a maximum of 8 people per class.

LEVEL UP: VOCAL TECHNIQUE COURSE
CLASS DESCRIPTION
The Level UP: Vocal Technique Course is a 10-Week Course designed to take your singing and understanding of your voice to the next level. Over the course of the ten weeks you will receive and work on FOUR new cuts, sing in EVERY class, and learn tools to continue your artistic growth. Each class will have a maximum of 8 people.

THE ASSIGNMENT
CLASS DESCRIPTION
The Assignment is a 2-week course (2 classes/week) designed to help you get high quality video of new material that best represents YOU as an artist. Often times, actors are left to record new material alone at home in front of a ring light. The reason we started this course was to bring back two essential elements to capturing captivating live performance on film: preparation and an AUDIENCE!
This course will have TWO instructor, Joey Harrell and Hannah Corneau who will work with you individually on vocal considerations (Joey) and storytelling considerations (Hannah). Over the course of 2 weeks (two classes per week) you will craft a 3-song 'Set' that best represents you as an artist right now.

MUSICAL THEATRE VOCAL PEDAGOGY LEVEL 1: GETTING STARTED RIGHT NOW
CLASS DESCRIPTION
This is the first class of a three course module aimed at taking the strengths you already have as a teacher and improving how you utilize them to guide students. During Getting Started Right Now, we will clarify and improve the way you structure lessons. We begin from the ground up, exploring the fundamental sounds that comprise expressive, flexible singing, especially in Musical Theatre.
EACH CLASS WILL BE COMPRISED OF

Lecture about and experience of a vocal color utilized in Musical Theatre singing, including the training agenda when developing that sound.

Singer’s Lab experience during which you record the desired vocal sound in your own voice as well as during class.

Teacher’s Lab experience during which you will record, and receive feedback on, a session in which you work with a student on that week’s goal.

Case Study of the week’s technical goal and developmental repertoire for that particular function

Reflection and discussion
We will be covering the BroadwayVox educational framework, head voice (M2) sounds, chest voice (M1) sounds, and speaking through the range. For each week of this course, participants will complete homework including targeted listening, teaching a sample lesson, demonstrating the functions in their own voices, and a reflection prompt.

A core component of this class is the Teacher’s Lab experience. It’s important that you have both a treble (soprano, mezzo) voice and a low (tenor, baritone, bass) voice student to work with. If you do not, please let us know and we will help facilitate finding one.
